About Me

Hi there, I’m Callum Keogan - a passionate software developer with over 6 years of experience creating high-quality, scalable applications. As a Senior Developer at Shopify, I’ve had the privilege of working on projects that help millions of businesses across 175 countries improve their commerce experiences.

I take pride in creating secure-by-design applications that don’t infringe on users’ privacy, and I’m always looking for ways to push the boundaries of what’s possible.

When I’m not coding, you can find me out in the wilderness with my camera, capturing the beauty of the natural world. I find that my love for nature often inspires my work as a developer.

My Work

Throughout my career, I’ve had the pleasure of working on a variety of different projects, from building Wordpress sites to developing integrated payroll systems. Here are a few examples of some of the projects I’m most proud of:

Recruitment CRM

I was Head of Build for a digital agency where I built out the entire backend and infrastructure for a recruitment CRM that serviced tens of thousands of clients and workers every day. One of the biggest challenges with this project was migrating the recruitment firm from a legacy paper-based system, whilst mitigating any potential disruption for the recruiters. Through a deliberate and intuitive product, we successfully migrated the entire company to the new digital system which accelerated day-to-day operations and streamlined the process for the recruiters in-house.

Construction Cost Management

Another project I worked on was a cost management platform for large construction projects involving clients such as Amazon. This platform allowed project managers to track expenses in real-time and make more informed decisions about where to allocate resources. By improving efficiency and reducing waste, this project helped to minimise the environmental impact of construction projects.

Shopify Forms App

At Shopify, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, but the one I’m most proud of is the Shopify Forms app. I was part of a team of just two engineers when we first started building the app, and I’ve help grow the team to 14 engineers across 8 different countries.

Our goal with this app was to improve merchant-customer reach whilst keeping data secure within Shopify and maximising the integration possibilities with the Shopify ecosystem, using products such as Marketing Automations and Segmentation. I’m proud of the work we’ve done to make this app both user-friendly and secure, and I continue to work tirelessly to improve the experience for merchants across the world.
